3 Dec 2007I’ve decided that I want a Kindle. I need to see it to see if the eInk technology really is any good, but I really like the idea of a portable library. I’ve been disappointed with PDAs so far, as well as the readability of LCD screens, especially when I’m not home.
What I’d REALLY like, though, is a 3rd generation Kindle. The current generation is probably buggy, awkward, way too big and rushed to meet the Christmas shopping season and not nearly as good as the next versions.

Then get yourself a Sony Reader.
We have one and are very satisfied with it.

Well, apart from my initial distrust of Sony in these matters (though I see that it DOES support SD cards, and doesn’t force me to buy their own proprietary cards), it seems to be missing some feature I need.
Specifically, a full-featured RSS reader. The reviews I’ve seen now say that it has several preconfigured RSS feeds it can fetch, but I can’t add my own feeds. This is pretty much a deal-breaker for me, I’m afraid.
Also, wireless is much cooler.

I looked at my dad’s new phone at this weekend’s family dinner, and smiled to see an RSS reader featured prominently. My dad has no idea what RSS is. Neither did my sister, but my brother-in-law told her her torrent bookmarks are RSS. Weird seeing something that geeky go mainstream.
