Soup is best served in a small, deep bowl. Not a large, shallow one. This is an intrinsic, universal truth, and I will defend it to the death.

But why? It takes it longer to cool this way..

To expand on the point – not only does it take longer to cool (I want my soup hot, dammit!) but it also makes the soup seem to last much longer. Rather than shallow and finite pool of lukewarm soup, you have a spring, a deep and endless well whose depths you have to plumb, a dark abyss filled with parlsey, onions and (if you’re lucky) chunks of goulash.
