MSN Messenger 7.0 has this nifty little feature that allows you to put a personal message as part of your display name. Most people who use it just put some wise-ass comment (like I do), but the neatest thing is that it comes with a plug-in for Windows Media Player that allows it to place your currently playing song as your personal message – thus forcing your musical taste on whoever happens to be browsing his contact list. Yay!

Since I believe that WMP is a horrid bit of bloatware and nearly unusable for listening to music, I was glad to find a plug-in for Winamp today that integrates smoothly with this feature. Now I can have my Current Music shown online, as well as in my LJ.
