01. What’s the last thing you ate? Maple and Walnut Fudge, from Camden Market.
02. What’s your favorite cheese? Dunno. Hard yellows, mostly.
03. What’s your favorite fish? Like’em all.
04. What’s your favorite fruit? Grapes, I think.
05. When, if ever, did you start liking olives? Always.
06. When, if ever, did you start liking beer? Around the age of 20.
07. When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish? 16 or so, I think.
08. What was the best thing your mum/dad/guardian used to make? Specific dishes? I *love* my mom’s apple-cake.
09. What’s the native specialty of your home town? None.
10. What’s your comfort food? Tortilla chips with salsa. Fat/Salt heaven.
11. What’s your favourite type of chocolate? Milk-Orange.
12. How do you like your steak? Medium rare.
13. How do you like your burger? Medium, with fried onions.
14. How do you like your eggs? Omlette. belvane‘s mean ones are good. :)15. How do you like your potatoes? Baked, with a bit of oil.
16. How do you take your coffee? Milk, one sugar. Cutting down from two so I can actually taste COFFEE, too.
17. How do you take your tea? One sugar.

20. What’s your ideal breakfast? Omlette, bacon and OJ.

23. What’s your ideal pie (sweet or savoury)? Apple and nuts.
24. What’s your ideal salad? Two. The green one (lettuce with my mom’s oil/mustard dressing) and the basic (cucumber, tomato, salt).
25. What food do you always like to have in the fridge? Things that I am now afraid to throw out.
26. What food do you always like to have in the freezer? Old bottles of vodka and frozen take-away parmesan boxes.
27. What food do you always like to have in the cupboard? Canned peas and corn.
28. What spices can you not live without? Salt.
29. What sauces can you not live without? Sauce is for the weak!
30. Where do you buy most of your food? Neighborhood mini-market.
31. How often do you go food shopping? Sporadically.
32. What’s the most you’ve spent on a single food item? Hmpf. Can’t think of anything unusual.
33. What’s the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own (excluding ‘white goods’)? I think it’s the 20NIS breadknife. I don’t do kitchen equipment. 🙂
34. What’s the last piece of equipment you bought for your kitchen? Wickerwork utensil holder. Long time ago.
35. What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without? Breadknife.
36. How many times a week do you cook from raw ingredients? Rarely. “Week” simply doesn’t enter into it.
37. What’s the last thing you cooked from raw ingredients? Cheese and corn toast.
38. What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig and poultry? Venison, rabbit, ostrich. Does poultry include pheasant?
39. What’s the last time you ate something that had fallen on the floor? Can’t remember. Must be a few weeks.
40. What’s the last time you ate something you’d picked in the wild? Must have eaten some so-called “arabic bread” (Hubeza) last time they were in season.

New York:

  • Peter Luger’s Steakhouse in Brooklyn, Spring 2001.
  • Dragonfly sushi and japanese in the Village, Spring 2001 (March 20th!)
  • Some nameless restaurant in Chinatown, 1997, when it suddenly struck me that I really do like Chinese food.

49. What’s your choice of tipple at the end of a long day? Music.
50. What’s the next thing you’ll eat? Dinner with Yuval, when I get back to the hotel.
