1 Jan 2008Riding a bicycle is not like riding a bicycle.
No-one expects you to learn to ride a bike at age 28. By this time, you’re supposed to have it mastered. Stumbling around, braking in panic an inch away from a parked car, is just not done. What do you mean, you don’t know how to ride a bike? KIDS ride bikes!
Screw’em all. I’m learning to ride my new bike.

I had the same problem, and attitude, when I was 21 and got Harper’s old bicycle. I panicked repeatedly all over shouthern Tel Aviv, and had to force myself to actually not give up, and learn to TAKE TURNS.
Was great, up until that day I crossed a junction and the seat fell off. Talk about a pain in the ass.

In fact, it’s just like riding a bicycle
In that you can take 12-year gaps and still know how to do it. What it’s not is a walk in the park. It’s more like a ride through the park. On a bicycle.

Re: In fact, it’s just like riding a bicycle
Exactly what I’m talking about. I haven’t ridden a bike in 20 years, and I do NOT know how to ride a bike today.
All a bloody marketing ploy, if you ask me.
