Just watched Kevin Smith’s “Chasing Amy”.
Now, I like Kevin Smith. Liked him ever since the first of his movies I saw – Dogma. Witty, funny and cute.
I liked Clerks. Witty, funny and even touching for a few brief instants.
I even kinda liked Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which had some brilliant bits among the crap-jokes.
But Chasing Amy I don’t like. Chasing Amy I LOVE. It strikes a chord deep inside just like Almost Famous did, though not exactly the same chord. You were right, Hershko – it’s a GREAT movie, and a very SAD movie. So many things I can identify with, so many things that I can relate to.

Was glad when rest of movie-viewing gang started to leave immediately after. Sabotaged attempts of flat-mate to watch extended cuts and deleted scenes. Ushered people out to just sit and think.

Is that how it would have been? Would my lack of… experience, let’s call it, haunt me forever and eventually sour everything good we could have had? Would I be forever plagued by feelings of inadequacy, as stupid as they may be?

I’m no Holden McNeil, and I do think I would have handled it better – but the situation, as it is, is definitely for the best. It was too good to have it end badly.

My turn to “Ewe!!”

Ah, but the anguish. Is there truly no limit?

Re: Watch “mallrats”. Now.

Did.
Lovely movie, Mallrats. A whole lot of fun, and with a happy ending, to boot.
A teen comedy without a lot of self-awareness, not ashamed to go all-out slapstick when appropriate. Fun-fun.
