‘Read Or Die’ – quirky, fun, and with plenty of action. Plus, the heroine’s a substitute teacher working for the intelligence agency of the British Library!

‘Interstella 5555 – The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem’ – brilliant, if you haven’t watched it you MUST. Pretty short at an hour, this movie (which you’ve probably seen clips from) has no dialogue or sound effects other then Daft Punk’s Discovry album. Even if you don’t normally like them (like me), this movie is definitely a must-watch.

I’ll try to think up more recc’s later. And you should definitely also watch some series’. They’re longer, but often better for it.

Re: The basics

Ghost in the Shell I’ve seen, of course. One of the classics.
I’ve seen Myazaki’s Mononoke and Spirited Away – both great. I’ll look into more of his stuff. Anything specific?

Rorouni Kenshin – Samurai X

A four part OVA of the much too long series “Rorouni Kenshin”, and better by far. If you want a meji era movie, this is the best I can offer.

Three separate Anime stories totalling 113 minutes which are the only Anime I ever saw besides Cowboy Bebop deserving of the title “art”. The first one, 45-minute long “Magnetic Rose”, is a Sci-Fi anime masterpiece.
