I have never done anything under the influence of alcohol.

I have done things under the influence of joy. 
I have done things under the influence of ecstasy.
I have done things under the influence of sadness. 
I have done things under the influence of loneliness, 
                                                                              self-consciousness, 
and fear and filth and cowardice and shame.
I have done things under influence of music and of books,
                                                                             of films, of friends and foes and love.
I have done things under influence of things that would embarass me
                                                                             to hint at their existence in my heart.

But not alcohol.
Never alcohol.
Alcohol is always just the catalyst
                                                          for this mood of total honesty,
                                                          forthcoming, 
                                                          bluntness,
                                                          truthfulness
                                                          and poetry, for lack of any better word.
