Today I got an email from a guy I went to the programming course with, 9 (count’em – 9!) years ago. I haven’t seen him since. He was trying to get in touch. I wonder why. We were never friends and we haven’t kept in touch. Haven’t seen in him 8 years or so.

Yesterday I got a cryptic email from a name I didn’t recognize, saying simply “Were you Yggdrasil?”. A quick followup made the link, and it turns out he was a regular on old #ad&d on EFnet, the IRC channel where I spent the better part of my free time in ’96 and ’97. It seems a bunch of the old ops and regulars were trying to trace where “everyone” went – they found my full name on an old web-page the channel had and googled me down from there, which is pretty cool. I’m trying to catch up and simultaneously to remember who all those people are – he’s tossing me names I haven’t thought of in a decade, and which weren’t particularly easy to remember anyway – the guy went by Taliesin, and he’s given me some info on the current status of Kizzy, Skie, Saydee and Leech. *blink*

Now my brain is running around like a headless chicken, bringing up memories from cryogenic storage. I remember those names, and even some of the people attached to them.
Skie was an asian guy called Kevin who lived in Vancouver, and he was the picture (and name) in my head when I created my character for the old Amber game.

My, my. Such memories.
